DayZ Stand-Alone Release Rescheduled, ‘Closed Testing’ To Begin Soon

The big question on everyone’s mind is…. where is the standalone? DayZ creator Dean Hall wrote in a blog post this morning, saying he’s delaying the standalone in order to revamp the whole thing! Here’s a quote: “Put simply, DayZ Standalone isn’t here because we had the chance to go from making a game that was just the mod improved slightly, packaged simply, and sold – to actually redeveloping the engine and making the game the way we all dreamed it could be. DayZ creator Dean “Rocket” Hall announced the first patch for DayZ that the general public helped create. The DayZ patch notes show the update is mostly bug fixes but dogs have been added. Well, sort of. They’re not usable yet, they’re just kind of there, chilling. Below are the patch notes as shown on the official DayZ blog. DayZ creator Dean Hall showed off some new screen shots of buildings and interior shots for the upcoming DayZ standalone game. He wrote on his official blog, “The village I used to take the screenshots in now has all its buildings enter-able, including the sheds. Most of the focus so far has been on the buildings that are situated outside of the center, but we’re now turning to doing interiors for the city buildings. This is complicated by our desire to dramatically increase performance, and given the scene complexity inside cities, we need to balance this with the desire to increase building scavenging opportunities inside the cities.” Check out some of the screen shots below. DayZ News: Bohemia Interactive developers Arrested in Greece

Earlier this month two Bohemia Interactive (studio that created ArmA 2) developers were arrested in Greece under suspicion of spying on a military base in Lemnos. Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar are currently facing a 20 year prison term and Bohemia Iteractive has reached out to their game’s gaming communities for help.
