DayZ -TX- Community Feedback #1

We got an awesome email and we wanted to share it with everyone. Maletech, a DayZ Texas community member writes:

“Just wanted to say that I consider your server my number one server because of your involvement and communication with the players.  Figures that I stumble upon some DayZ news and it is run by the same group.

Unfortunately we go burned pretty bad by some hackers so my group forced me to move on, but naturally we got burned even worse by hackers on the next one.  Such is the state of the game and I totally understand.

Will be back on your server soon.  Keep up the great work and all your hard work and information is appreciated.

Oh and Joe, how about ixnay of the global voice chatay?  Scared this living shit out of all of us.”

First of all, let me say that this exactly the kind of feedback we were waiting for. DayZ Texas wants to be your favorite gaming community. That is why we try really hard to reach out to our players and really make them feel like they are a part of something. We know we aren’t on the leading edge of DayZ news (we don’t have press passes yet), but we try hard to find the latest DayZ information from all over the internet for our community and post it in a timely fashion. We want our community to have a better understanding and deeper knowledge of the game they enjoy playing.

Now, I would like to reply to this email so everyone can see it. We want everyone that plays with us on US 2134 to have a good time. We try to keep the server up to date with the latest Battle Eye and Beta patches. We found out this was one of the best ways to keep hackers at bay (video on this soon). We want everyone to understand that hacking is a huge problem in DayZ right now; every server has it not just ours. For obvious reasons we can’t go around banning every person that is called a hacker (How many times have you been called a hacker and weren’t hacking?). Even though we are admins, our hands are mostly tied when it comes to banning hackers. There isn’t a magic ban button on our keyboards we can faceroll. Currently the banning process is a long drawn out procedure. We have to collect evidence (images, videos, or logs) and submit it to Battle Eye and wait for approval. We do our best and investigate all situations as we receive them.

With that being said, I want to make it clear that if you need to get a hold of an admin because someone is hacking on the server the quickest way would be through Facebook or Twitter. If we get multiple complaints of a hacker the best action a server admin can take is to restart the server as quickly as possible. We realize this kicks everyone off the server but, by doing this, there is a small chance you could get your stuff back if you were killed by the hacker. This also means the hacker is kicked and the scripts he/she ran on the server are removed for the time being. This can be frustrating for players and we hope it doesn’t turn you away from our server. Rest assured that there is always good reason for any server interruptions.

Maletech, thank you so much for your email. I’m really sorry about the global voice incident, but in my defense I did realize it and apologized for it shorty after. I’ll just use the global text chat from now on. 🙂 We really appreciate the honest feedback and we hope you continue to be a member of our community.
